Milford ALIVE Authors Room

The Book Garden will once again host the Author’s Room at Milford ALIVE! Come meet some of our fantastic local authors and get a personalized copy of one of their books. This is the line up for this year’s event:

Felicia Sanzari Chernesky
Felicia is a writer and poet whose critically acclaimed books include: The Boy Who Said Nonsense; Pick a Circle, Gather Squares: A Fall Harvest of Shapes; Cheers for a Dozen Ears: A Summer Crop of Counting; Sugar White Snow and Evergreens: A Winter Wonderland of Color, and Sun Above and Blooms Below: A Springtime of opposites. This series of rhyming concept books was inspired by visits to farms in Hunterdon County, where her family lives. All are beautifully illustrated by Susan Swan and published by Albert Whitman.

Her latest book, From Apple Trees to Cider, Please!, was just released, and her first prose picture book, The Boy Who Said Nonsense will be published byAlbert Whitman in the spring of 2016.

Therese Halscheid
Therése Halscheid’s new collection Frozen Latitudes, the barren and timeless landscape of Alaska becomes a metaphor for places frozen in time when her father Charles, suffered brain damage. Woven among these pages are journey poems of other locales, which share the interchangeability of nature and human nature.

Previous poetry collections include Powertalk, Without Home, Uncommon Geography, which won a finalist award for the Paterson Poetry Book Prize; and Greatest Hits, a chapbook award from Pudding House Publications. Her poetry, essays and short stories have appeared in magazines such as The Gettysburg Review, Tampa Review, Sou’wester, Tiferet, among others. She has received Fellowships from The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and NJ State Council on the Arts.

Hal Taylor
Hal Taylor is an illustrator, writer, and hand-lettering artist native to New Jersey. His 2015 release, The Illustrated Delaware River, covers 400 years of history, and features over 140 of his drawings and paintings. He has also illustrated covers for Townsend press versions of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Macbeth, and Romeo & Juliet. He is a multi-medium artist, working with materials from pen & ink to colored pencils to digital media, and draws inspiration, especially compositionally, from the Golden Age of Illustration. He taught elements of graphic art and design at Drexel University and Burlington County University.

Rolf Margenau
An English major in college, Rolf Margenau followed a variety of career paths before beginning to publish books, including a professional photographer, and an attorney in international corporate law. His first book, Public Information, is an Amazon bestseller about a young soldier in the Korean War, of which Mr. Margenau has first-hand experience. Other releases include Pistols & Poetry, The Commode Companion, High Andes, and, in 2016, National Parks, a novel about a dystopian American society. Margeneau lives in rural NJ with his wife of 60 years.

Denny Daikeler
Denny Daikeler is an interior design graduate of Drexel University, allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers, and an Interfaith Minister. As an interior designer, she seeks to integrate spirituality and interior design, helping people to design their homes to resonate with them spiritually. In 2004, she released a book on this subject, So, What Color Is Your Slipcover?, which brings readers through the process of designing their homes from a spiritual, emotional level. In 2012, she released Messages Flowing With Synchronicity, a book about synchronicities, how to attune to them, and thus achieve spiritual connectivity, life direction, and happiness.

Caroline Scutt & Robert Rando
Caroline Scutt & Robert Rando, owners of the Frenchtown Book Garden since 2012, are the authors of Frenchtown NJ, History Along the River. The book, released in 2015, covers the extensive history of the area, spanning from the 1700s up until the present day, and includes many historical photographs of the town. In addition to being involved in the community through the Book Garden, Caroline is a member of the Frenchtown Borough Council, and Robert produces the River Town Radio Theater.
